History & Description

Calvary Chapel at Rivergate held its first service December 6th, 1992. Jerry McAnulty and his wife, Vicki, moved to the North Nashville area to plant the first congregation in Tennessee to be affiliated with Calvary Chapel Outreach Fellowship of Costa Mesa, CA.

Calvary Chapel is in fellowship with Calvary Chapel Outreach Fellowships, Costa Mesa, California, led by Pastor Chuck Smith. This is not a denomination, but a fellowship of like-minded churches. Calvary Chapel services are informal with an emphasis on inspirational worship, verse by verse Bible teaching which is relevant, along with doctrinal balance and integrity. We place great emphasis on the love and grace of God making our churches a safe place for hurting people to receive healing and to be equipped as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Calvary Chapel at Rivergate is a congregation of around 500, including children. The services are informal yet relevant, and casual attire is the norm for those who attend.
