History &
Description

Jerry and Vicki McAnulty, along with their children, Joel, Holly, and Jeremy, moved to Goodlettsville, Tennessee in September of 1992 to plant a new congregation affiliated with Calvary Chapel Outreach Fellowship of Costa Mesa,
CA. Their particular vision was to establish a
church on the northern perimeter of Nashville that would reach people from all the adjoining communities.
“Rivergate”
is a commercial identity that describes this general area. This is the reason the church is called Calvary Chapel at Rivergate.
A Sunday
evening Bible Study was started in October and by December had grown to about 25 adults. Sunday morning services began December 6,1992. The new congregation met in the conference room of
Shoney's Inn on Long Hollow Pike, growing to about 60 in that location and moved Easter Sunday of 1993 to
leased space in Building "B" of Rivergate Executive Park where the church met for over two years, growing so as to need a larger facility.
In February of
1995, the church purchased property located at 312 Bluebird Drive in Goodlettsville. In July the congregation
began meeting at the new location. The congregation doubled in size the first year there. During this time, the senior pastor was able to serve the
church full-time along with an assisting pastor. In October of 1996, the church purchased the adjoining
property at 310 Bluebird Drive for children and youth classes. In 1999, the church sold those facilities and
purchased nearly ten acres at the corner of Long Hollow Pike and Willis Branch Road in Goodlettsville and
completed the current facilities in March of 2001, and now has a wonderful growing fellowship of people from about 15 different communities.
